Smart Pergola / LouveRoof Price?

The age old question when looking through a brochure or staring at a product. How many of us have been perusing through a store and when something catches your eye, you start searching for the price tag. What’s worse, is when you’re online and it says “Contact for a price.” Nothing is more aggravating than that, and yet that’s typically the case when it comes to complex building materials or contractors projects. What do we do? We abide by the ever famous “3 bids” system, as if those three bids are going to give you an entire landscape of a product and all the costs associated with it.

Let me introduce myself first, I am one of those dreaded contractors, or at least I am when I’m not at home with my family. When I go out to see someone, commonly, they want to know the price first and foremost. Ever wonder why contractors come out to measure and talk for a few minutes before leaving to send you a bid? Usually it’s because they don’t even know themselves how much something is going to cost. If you’re a landscaper, your paver cost and selection change constantly. It’s almost impossible to know off the top of your head the cost of every element to a project the moment you meet with a couple.

Here is where Louvered Roof’s can differ. While every contractor is different and every dealer for LouveRoof® is different, the product does lend itself to a more standardized price, given that the price of aluminum doesn’t change between your bid and the installation itself. The product itself has relatively specific design sizes and ways to put it together, meaning that often you can get a quote for the project the day the contractor is there. Please give us time, however, to discuss the product and your space. I’ve had meetings for a LouveRoof® last an hour and a half and I’ve had them last four hours. It all depends on questions and application.

The last puzzle piece for price here is the commodity price of aluminum. At the time of writing this, we’ve seen the price of aluminum double from May of 2020 to now, January of 2022. This means that the price is going up and it seems as though it will likely never return to those early 2020 prices. Given that the entire product is made in the United States as well, it is going to be reliant on the price of extrusions in the United States rather than overseas.

All this is to say that the price varies. It is, on average, anywhere between $100-150 per square foot depending on layout, design, add ons, and the price of aluminum at that given moment. While that’s a large range, that is because often you can work with your contractor to find optimal sizes for given prices depending on how the extrusions are sourced. For example, a 12’ x 16’ unit is going to be optimal for size and layout given engineering constraints and extrusion purchasing sizes. That means a 12’ x 16’ per square foot will be less than a 12’ x 17’ or 13’ x 16’. In all scenarios, talk to your LouveRoof® dealer. He will help every step of the way.
